Phytohormone; what is/are phytohormones?

phytohormones are organic substances
– produced in one part of the plant
– translocated to other parts
– elicit specific response in target organ/tissue
– active in small/low concentration
– higher concentrations are generally inhibitory
– used for coordination of plant growth and development
– examples are, auxin, giberellins, cytokinnins, ethylene, abscissic acid
