Brief note on hydrophytes

Hydrophytes are plant that live in fresh water. All plants of their body is immersed in water.  They are adapted to their environment in the following ways
1.  They have the ability to float in water
2.  They have poorly developed root system
3.  Well developed stomata on the upper surface only
4.   Submerged plants have air places for buoyancy
5.  Presence of long stem or stalk for photosynthesis and pollination.

EXAMPLES OF HYDROPHYTES 

1. Water lily
2. Water lettuce
3. Water hyacinth
4.  Ceratophyllum e.t.c
