How to add social follow button to your blogger blog, the easy/simple way

One common thing among new
bloggers using the blogger platform is their unending quest to have a
facebook like/twitter follow buttons on their blog. but this feature has
not been added by google yet and I don’t think they ever will (thinking
competition-wise), they have their own social network, Google plus so
giving you that functionality would be a dumb thing from them. This
makes bloggers to adopt various means of adding the like buttons to
their blog, one of which I will talk about in this article.

Social networking gives
you the ability to network with other bloggers and promote your Blogger
website. You must have a social networking image for each of your
accounts. You can make your own or download free images to use in your
Blogger posts. Blogger has a “Gadgets” section you use to add a new
content panel on the blog, which is where you place the social
networking buttons. see the steps below:

  • Upload
your social networking button images to your website directory. Each
Web host has its own upload software, so uploading images is dependent
on your Web host. After you upload the images, take note of the image
name and the directory in which you store the image.
  • Open
a Web browser and log in to your Blogger dashboard. Click “Design” to
view a list of options. Click the “Add Gadget” button to add a new
    Blogger gadget.
  • Click the “HTML/JavaScript” option. A “Content” text box opens, which is where you add your social networking buttons.
  • Add
a link to each of your social networking accounts using the button
image you uploaded earlier. For instance, the following code links a
Twitter account using an image named “twitter.jpg:” <a
    href=”http://www.twitter.com/twittername”><img
src=”/folder/twitter.jpg”></a> In this example, the account
linked is “twittername.” Replace this name with your own and replace the
image’s “src” property with the directory and name of your social
    networking image.
  • Click
“Save” to save the changes. Open your blog in another browser tab to
view the new social networking button. Click the button to verify that
    it leads to your account.
